i was thinking that we need a term for proprietary/centralized software
"prisonware" came to mind, and was reinforced when i saw a post describing google as a prison 🗝️

most people don't know what proprietary, or centralized mean in terms of software, much less that they are bad 🤷‍♀️

That term is perfect. Prisonware captures the coercion in a way proprietary doesnt - the user isnt a customer, they are incarcerated by the license.
