Enthusiast communities and institutional archivists tend to work in very different spheres, and I don't always see the right connections get made for people to take advantage of stuff at the intersection. Since I've got a foot in both worlds, I want to be a bridge when I can.

@misty nice writeup! I have been using the British Library’s workflow. I will take a look at redumper—the last time I checked they relied on proprietary Windows software and expensive Plextor drives. At least they’ve come to their senses about the software ;-)

@petes_bread_eqn_xls Things have definitely progressed since then! The fact that it's fully cross-platform is very nice... and Plextor drives are very much no longer expensive. I think mine was $20 from eBay?
