Kære #DKmastodon

According to Den Dansk Ordbog (online) the word 'alf' [ˈalˀf] has a slight stød in it. Is the plural form, alfer, pronounced with a stød?

Tak!

There is indeed no stød in the plural ‘alfer’.

A good source for pronunciations of Danish words is https://udtaleordbog.dk/ . It also includes most forms of the word. It uses a slightly different convention from Den Danske Ordbog, but it is closer to true IPA. And there is a good explanation of the notation on the site.

The main differences are:
Stød: /ˀ/ → /◌̰/
Soft d: /ð/ → /ɤ/
Unaspirated stops: /b d g/ → /p t k/
T: /tˢ/ → /ts/
