well, if we ever get another #startrek show i sure hope folks remember the last few days and become militant vigilant adherents to the paradox of tolerance and allow room for no bigots in #fandom spaces. once that cancer is in. you get doxxing, harassing of talent, swatting and death threats galore. oh and lots of quislings and "aunt tammy" pickme fake queers #scifi #lgbtqia #queer

@scottrossi

And if anybody says "this isn't Star Trek" can we all agree to just tell them "then don't watch it".

I didn't watch Discovery because I didn't like the focus on Starfleet doing war crimes with an (eventually revealed) mirror universe captain successfully impersonating his primary universe counterpart and I hated the Klingon redesign.

I didn't go online to tell people they were wrong for enjoying it.

I liked the fact that it had visibility queer characters, BIPOC in prominent roles, and a plus-sized main character.

Picard also went in exactly the wrong direction for me, so I didn't watch it, not even the final, desperately nostalgic season.

My wife and I did watch and love all of Lower Decks and the first two seasons of Strange New Worlds. We cancelled Paramount+ due to the fascism so we haven't seen S3+.

What I'm saying is: the variety of shows and styles means they can hopefully all find their audience as long as the other fans don't gatekeep like entitled assholes, exactly the kind of extremists who are often the villains in the universe they claim to love.

@scottrossi SAM looked between them, thoughtful.
“We received commendations and punitive measures simultaneously.”

Caleb snorted.
“Yeah. That tracks.”

Sam dragged a hand down her face.
“We got medals and detention.”

Darem spoke quietly, almost to himself.
“Balanced outcome.”

Caleb smirked.
“Worth it.”
