A reminder that you cannot call yourself an ally of trans people while supporting Joanne Rowling, especially regarding the new Harry Potter. You cannot separate the art from the artist when the artist is using the profits of her art to actively harm trans people!

@stoneth you are not wrong.

I can’t support the art if I can’t support the artist. I’ve toad’d artists from my store for less.

I admit that HP was an important part of my development and that the voice actors of the primaries are super supportive but the creator - nope.

I will not suport a creator who wants my trans friends dead.

Looking at you Cheetah and Kala. Yeah, I accept my choices but my trans friends mean more to me than a fucking Harry Potter game that supports a creator that wants trans people dead.

@Lilsandykit I am well aware that Harry Potter was a part of a lot of people's childhoods either through the books, the movies or even the games. But when you're young, media criticism isn't a skill you tend to have developed, and not every artwork that was important to you as a child remains important to you in adulthood. You eventually learn to put away childish things and see that many of the author's flaws were in plain view even back then such as her latent misogyny, racial insensitivity, fat-shaming, and poor-shaming. If the actors who first brought the characters to life in the original film adaptation can speak out in support of trans rights, every old Harry Potter fan should be able to do the same. It's not like Harry Potter is the only YA fantasy novel series. Heck, it's not even the first novel series about a boarding school for magic users. The Worst Witch predates The Philosopher's Stone by 23 years.

@stoneth you hit the nail on the head.

If I can look beyond the vail, everyone can.

Be more, not less.

@stoneth sorry to make it personal.
@stoneth fuck that. I’m not sorry. A very good - more than good - trans friend since 2009 is fighting for her life against lukemia…to think anyone want my trans friends dead I have another thing coming for you… We are here, we are here, we are here.
@stoneth that said I’ll call out any furry who puts their joy of the Harry Potter universe above our trans friends and family.
