I think She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is a good example of how looks can be deceiving. When I first saw this promotional image I have to admit I was skeptical, especially since Netflix didn't have a good track record for quality original animation at the time. But then I actually saw the show. I saw how it subverted the original show while paying loving tribute to it, how it re-imagined the world of She-Ra minus the connection to He-Man, how it made the characters far more interesting, how it challenged far-ingrained morals such as retributive justice as a means of punishment or redemption only through suffering, how it gave characters originally made to sell toys highly compelling character growth arcs. It also helps that it's queer AF which is fitting because ... come on, it's She-Ra. It became one of my favorite animated shows of all time and it's far better than it has any right to be. I put it up there with ATLA. If you've never seen it, you should give it a watch.

I love how some ponies have a fanon of just being gay because that's the vibe that fans picked up despite the fact that their sexuality is never officially codified. AFAIC, if them being gay makes you happy, then they are gay.
