Finished the Brave New World CD audiobook. Ultimately I still did not like it. My criticisms of the dystopia setting as 'not bad enough to be called a dystopia' persist. The plot, I feel came very close to being interesting several times before backing down into mediocrity again. The ending was...lame.

I have learned more about the background of the book though - I had thought it written much later than it was. Credit for being such an early piece of 'dystopic' fiction.

I am now going through an audiobook collection of Louis L'amour short stories on cassette. They're not classics by any means, but mildly entertaining. Most of his work I've been exposed to has been standard pulp fare with lots of action and no atmosphere, and very little character development. He did have some gems that I've read, but so far this collection has been more akin to a cross of the Dragnet and Gunsmoke radio dramas.
