@georgetakei I'd rather say that a lot of the politicians in our world abuse religion to prove their points.
But no religion is here to prove that any of us is right. Religion is here to form us to be better people, to care for each other, to have a moral ground.
What these politicians so completely ignores is that their actions speaks louder than anything.
Such politicians coming with such claims as Mrs. Franson, who defends the way they treat their citizens (like, health care, immigration, helping people in need) should also point out where in the "Good Book" it says anything about refusing to help people in need, undignified behaviour towards immigrants, spreading hatred among the population, segregation of communities, refusing to help their own people getting proper health care. Oh, and I'm pretty sure most religions has some clear ideas how to preserve the creation and the world we live in as well.
Such politicians should be held accountable against the religion they claim to defend. And trust me, they would all fall like flies if you start digging into the gory religious details - regardless of the religion.
No religion is suitable for a "cherry pick your own faith". You need to take it fully in.
These politicians are abusing religious statements to gain more power and wealth for themselves. Nothing more, noting less.
