in the absence of photo-oriented website (for now), and instagram account (forever), going to start sharing some of my photography here.

it’s a rare, empty escalator of the Parliament Station in Melbourne CBD. it used to be the longest escalator in the Southern Hemisphere (30m), but has been surpassed by several others since, including the new State Library Station (42m).

it’s impossible to not get vertigo/heebie jeebies here.

@fox Dig it! Tell me about the floating box scenes? Those are rad.
@nazhamid @fox I am also curious about those! (And heck yeah, *dig* this shot.)

@beep @nazhamid thank you ♥️

I just learned that they installed the boxes to give people something to focus on and avoid falls (which happened frequently due to poor design and many reflective surfaces). so, it’s not decorative only!

The huge escalators at Museum (now Melbourne Central) Station, and its general layout, were inspired by European stations.

My great-uncle was the architect.

The escalators were an engineering triumph-nightmare; station opened a couple of years before Parliament.

@fox @beep Form and function!
