In today’s edition of Garbage Healthcare, I learned that if a medication is discussed during what you think is a preventive care visit, the provider then codes it as an office visit.

So what you’re saying is 1) Big Healthcare keeps moving the goal posts; 2) you no longer know what topics are considered “routine” vs “non-preventive;” 3) don’t see a doctor yearly because it eats up time & money and actually adds stress, potentially taking a few months off your life.

Over the weekend, I sat down to write an essay. I wanted to express some thoughts on our current political, economic, and technological landscape. (Yeah, I know.) Even as I started to write, something changed in the writing. A couple of lines in a rhyming couplet stuck with me, and the more I thought about them, the more a poem evolved around them.

This is what tumbled out:

A poem and a prayer for dark times

A more public version of @aphera's site is now live with an About, Docs, and Now: our blog and changelog.

We did this to support beta 9, which was a massive update, and brings about a deep dive into “How We Redesigned Culling.” There are so many ways photo apps allow you to "rate" and we feel we found an elegant solution.

Sums up my experience growing up

In an attempt to create healthier news habits for myself, I built an RSS reader around reading yesterday's news. No unread counts, no constant refreshing—just a finite, organized feed to read once a day.

Today marks the launch of v2.0, a ground-up rebuild. I hope it brings others some welcome focus too.

I was hoping Bad Moons (a stellar song) wasn’t just a single, and yes, American Football LP4 is coming!

People are not friction

The Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect of AI is a pretty well documented phenomenon: The Gell-Mann amnesia effect is a cognitive bias describing the tendency of individuals to critically assess media reports in a domain they are knowledgeable about, yet continue to trust reporting in other areas despite recognizing similar potential inaccuracies.
