The problem with Laurie Voss's creation is that it's not possible to get around it by blocking his account or his domain. You have to block anyone who uses it, and you can't know that.

Otherwise you have to add #nobots to your profile or enable the noindex flag in your settings, which aren't what I personally want, because e.g. I do want my bangers searchable, and also pray that the next jackass who "improves" this tool goes on respecting that.

Also the basic problem with that abomination is that any half decent TL is not really reducible to anything but pap. What will it say... "Pictures of capybaras and cats, blooming flowers, watercolors, people yelling at Trump, war in X, Y and Z, documents found for W, N has a problem in P country maybe you can help, also a lot of Japanese, lately. And toots about piss Like 50 of them. Some light porn and smut. Trans rights."

That's as accurate an approximation of my daily TL as you can write, and you can see it's completely useless. I can just scroll up and be done with it, or read it.

Personally, I combat doomscrolling *by removing doom from the equation*. I setup filters so that I can get the information I want the way I want. I block or mute liberally, because life is too short. I spend way too much time online and here, but it doesn't destroy me.

@adriano But but but you don't get it! It's worth it if it means i don't actually have to read my feed and still feel terrible about the world! People are so tedious!
@doombloomart Why would we be mad that Laurie take all of our stuff that we posted here, push it into a machine that will do whatever the hell it wants with it, and extrude some pap? I mean it's public. Unless we set our feed to private/followers only, but hey, edge cases. What tedium.

@adriano just the pure irony of this dude wanting to skip the work of socializing with others (which includes seeking consent) and being surprised when others sense his antisociality and respond in kind

gives real ‘subjective experience for me and not for thee’ vibes 😂
