Ironing the lightweight green corduroy for my first try at the Sachi's Studio Newsboy Cap pattern. I don't know how I feel about the recommendation to use interfacing but it probably does want something to stiffen and thicken it a bit.

Sachi's newsboy cap pattern advises to cut the crown pieces diagonal to the weave ("on the bias") to allow more stretch around the circumference but that will make the corduroy rows run aslant, where I prefer them vertical.
We shall see. This is the test cookie to get a feel for the pattern. I like corduroy for texture but green wouldn't be my first choice, and this fabric is lightweight enough that I should add a layer, whether interfacing or what-have-you from the stash.
On a second look, my fabric isn't corduroy at all, it's just velvet, so I can cut at 45° to the fabric weave like Sachi suggests in the Newsboy Cap pattern and it won't look strange.
