Eight crown panels and two bill panels assembled into three pieces and pinned for general shape. Sachi's Studio Newsboy Cap pattern in green velvet. Mostly machine stitched.

The pattern calls for topstitching along the seams of the crown panels, which might suggest either matching or contrasting thread.

I think this is the finished version of Simplicity Patterns packet 7984 pattern 10, take 2 with adjustment cord for fit. I added a round medallion to the front with a feminist resistance design before giving it to the recipient. (Late January 2026 photo)

Progress after a while off. I got the sewing machine out to do the bill and a crown seam. Half the crown sewn plus the bill, resting atop the paper form made from the pattern. I had to rip and re-sew the machine stitch because I pinned along instead of across the seam and went off track. I might re-do the bill if I want a little more depth.
