Debian also works. Slow to boot, but acceptably quick once started.

@nivrig Linux Mint is fantastic on older Macs. I've installed it on a couple of them in the past.

@Oregon_Pacifist I've found some older macOS versions are basically unusable in 2026 - can't connect to anything - but a modern Linux fixes all that!
