“TSA officers just received $0 paychecks. That is simply unacceptable,”
--Letter from airline CEOs to Congress

Wow. That is tough. Maybe someone has some advice on getting through these penurious times.

First idea: The airline CEOs could fill in as TSA agents for awhile?

Second idea: TSA folks could pick up a side hustle - I assume there's jobs aplenty now that immigrants aren't stealing American jobs anymore. </sarcasm>

Having trouble with my sympathy today.

TSA Official Warns ‘We May Have to Quite Literally Shut Down Airports’ If DHS Shutdown Stretches On

DHS said that 366 TSA officers have quit their jobs since the shutdown began in February.

@mmiasma Or maybe the security process shouldn't be so fucking slow? Having to pull an iPad out of my bag every time I go through security? Partially disrobing to go through a machine that can apparently see right through your clothes? Having to take my shoes off if I opt out of the backscatter machine? All the bullshit about liquids being less than 3 ounces? Maybe if we reduce the security theater, we can make the process faster.

@mlanger

There was a time in my <cough> career where I had to fly all over the U.S. to work on computers for our clients. My carry-on toolkit had many of the same components (soldering iron, wires, crimpers, multi-meter) as bad people who build things that explode. Can you imagine getting through the modern day theater/screening with all that?

I'd probably still be in a TSA screening room somewhere outside of Poughkeepsie.
