Apple Watch is the most infuriating device when it comes to software updates. Downloaded the watchOS 26.4 update to my phone at bedtime, my watch was on 64% battery even before popping onto the charger all night and yet I lift it off charge this morning to be told the update will install tonight. You’ve had 8+ hours to do it!
@purplelime Another reason to move away from anything with batteries, that needs updates, firmware or anything that sucks the life out of us.
@alexandra yeah these things definitely control us at times that’s for sure.

@purplelime I've bagged my apple watch and hidden it in a draw. I stripped most apps off my phone and use only my iPad for my farm game or watching movies.

Not that I ever doomscrolled, or did social media anyway. But it's nice to par down the digital shit in my life.

@alexandra I’m seeing more and more of this these days and I love it. People choosing analogue for the things they want to do such as Walkman or iPod for music, a proper camera for photos and a non-smart watch to tell the time. Feels like those days are coming back around and they have so much charm because I remember the first time very well.

@purplelime I've always used my camera but only recently supplemented by using the iphone. It does have it's uses.

But yeah, I prefer my old ipod and walkman for analogue music or just putting a disc in my player. After all, this is my generation.

@alexandra Maxell are releasing a Walkman for old skool cassettes soon but looks like US only. I’d love one as I have so many cassettes from the 80s.
@purplelime I still have about 100 cassettes from, eh, way back when. Some are of music that was never released as CD and is unavailable otherwise.
@alexandra I’m really excited to see what’s on my tapes as I recorded a lot from the radio back then, probably stuff I’ve not heard for many a year. I also remember pretending to be a DJ and talking into a microphone and recording that so I’ll hear what my little voice used to sound like 🥹

@purplelime Ah, now that'll be a trip down memory lane. My tapes are mostly bought tapes at the time, with a couple of mix tapes I did myself.

I should break them out and have a listen.
