Says the guy that literally talks about Apple and Tim Cook for hours every week on a podcast.
Let me translate this for people. Marco says Tim Cook doesn’t deserve his attention while giving Tim Cook and Apple his attention every single week. This is not a post about if Marco likes what Apple or Tim Cook does. I’m just stating that he does give them attention… constantly.

@Ronnie This is exactly why I stopped paying attention to most so-called "tech journalists" a long time ago. Marco Arment would not have a job if it weren't for talking incessantly about Apple. And most of them are directly dependent on the people they cover for a living, whether it be Apple or Microsoft or Google or whatever. They're all way too far up the rectums of the companies and people they write about.

And honestly, it's all just so damn boring.

@Ronnie But you're giving Marco attention, which gives Timmy attention. If he notices you, then you have an infinite energy machine.
@mdhughes Oh he won’t notice me. 😂
@Ronnie @mdhughes People who I do not understand why anyone pays attention to them:
1. Marco Arment
2. Merlin Mann
3. John Gruber
@Ronnie Publicaciones como la suya son la razón por la que dejo de usar sus productos o de escuchar sus opiniones. Él en particular me molesta. Él es la razón por la que dejé de usar Overcast.
@iRalph I see what you did there. Masterpiece post.

@Ronnie

Apple has some of the weirdest fanboys. I saw someone recently posting for a solid fuckin' week because Macbooks now come in yellow.

@Ronnie To some credit a lot of the Apple tech sphere has been very critical of recent Apple and TimApple decisions and ways of doing business.

The trouble is they forget it every time.. **ooh new shiny**

@bengillam I’m not saying he likes Cook, or even Apple, at this point, but he does give them constant attention.

@Ronnie @bengillam
I listen to ATP every week. I have multiple ATP t-shirts. I am a fan.

These are Apple fans through and through. Marco has a successful Apple-only app called Overcast.

I think it's fair to say that he is disappointed in the company leadership - especially in the way they treat developers. He is also not a fan of the way Cook bends the knee to Trump. None of them like the way Apple has acted in China, which was spearheaded by Tim Cook.

@rob @bengillam I never said he likes Apple or Cook, he said Tim Cook doesn’t deserve his attention. He gives Apple and Tim Cook attention every single week.

@Ronnie @bengillam
Tim Cook gets negative attention. That is true.

The post is about Tim Cook. Not Apple.

@rob @bengillam So you’re telling me he doesn’t give any attention to Tim Cook?
@rob @bengillam If I cared enough, I would search ATP transcripts to see how many times he says Tim Cook. I bet you it’s plenty of times. Now he has never said my name. He gives me no attention because I truly don’t deserve it. 😂
@Ronnie @bengillam
I guess what I am telling you is that the post has a more subtle meaning than you are assigning it.
@rob @bengillam I’ll accept that for sure.

@Ronnie @bengillam
I definitely have my issues with the podcast. Their interests can be quite narrow. And sometimes they say things that are not well-informed because lets just say that their curiosity about technology can be limited at times. But sometimes it is quite expansive, which is why I listen.

Your point of excessive Apple fawning is a point I accept. It's not something I completely agree with or am comfortable with.

@rob @bengillam It’s not even just fawning though. That’s what I’m trying to say. Attention is attention. If you want to not give something, or someone, attention you don’t talk about them.

@Ronnie @bengillam
I think it's fair to love a company's products but not people who work at the company.

One man is not Apple any more than Apple is not one man.

@Ronnie Talking about them is part of their income. True he's already wealthy from previous projects but suspect it's bigger part of john/caseys. Difficult to have an apple themed show and not give them attention
@bengillam Yeah so don’t say things like he doesn’t deserve my attention. It’s his job. It’s how he makes money, although, like you said, he doesn’t need it.

@Ronnie I should say that i think he talks an awful lot of bollocks

It's usually him that comes out with some kind of opinionated generalist BS like he's the authority

@Ronnie I can't stand Marco. Between him, Gruber, and other Pro Apple Bloggers, they can all fuck off into a black abyss.

5 years ago, Cook was their savior and now, they think it's ok to hate on him while trying to save their shitty "careers".

@Ronnie there is a difference between Apple and Tim Cook. Marco does not have to cover or comment on every thing Tim Cook says for the podcast or on Mastodon. He is not an afraid of criticizing Apple is needed.
@scifi451 Read my posts. I’m not saying he likes Tim Cook. I never said he likes Tim Cook. I’m saying he gives him attention… constantly. His post said he doesn’t deserve his attention but he always gives him his attention.
@scifi451 Does he or does he not talk about Tim Cook very frequently (almost every episode that I’ve listened to) on ATP? My only point is that he does. He gives him attention all the time. If I’m wrong about that, then I rescind my statement.
