Fediverse sysadmins, yesterday our instance reported an increase of nearly 70% of total jobs and today we are headed to surpass that number. Is there any migration or event going on? Where is all this activity coming from?

Edit: apparently is a masive flee out of mstdn.ca

@santiago In my experience usually tombstone (user/post mass deletion) events when someone shuts down an account and/or server. Unless you added a relay, in which case it's that.
@vees I mean, we added some relays a couple of weeks ago and started our own relay for south american instances, but traffic was nearly unchanged. Maybe is somebody mass deleting, i dunno. It sounds like too many jobs anyways. Thanks!

@vees @santiago

Not sure if this relates…

A fairly large instance, mstdn.ca, has some turmoil, and a lot of people are migrating to other instances.

@santiago what's happening at mstdn.ca?

@chewie mstdn.ca’s owner and admin is being sued for *alleged* theft

@santiago
There was a wave of spam accounts created yesterday on multiple instances. The accounts were prefixed with “SAAR_”. On my instance, there were at least 341 accounts to suspend and remove.
