A Dutch self-titled "journalist" (techbro with a blog) was owned by me, got butthurt and is friend with one of the shitty admins there. "Wah".
The moderation of mastodon.social is utter garbage, less than useless, really. They occupy a lot of un-earned space in the physical plane and use a lot of underserved oxygen.
I had luck, in 2017, to find a decent instance, perusing the available ones at sign up for a then-fairly-new mastodon thing.
That instance, unfortunately, went down, due to circumstances related to welfare of the owner. I understand they are ok, but couldn't continue managing the instance, etc.
I made the mistake of saying "uh, big instance, let's what's up" in 2022. Took me about 2yrs of intermittent use of to realize mastodon.social is *shit*.
Notice I BROWSED the instances.... didn't simply sign up for the default thing.
Yes, you can. No, it's not hard. Swear, it's easy, all you have to do is READ.
That one seems to be the defining litmus test to ascertain if someone is capable of/should (?) be in the #fediverse ... the capability to not be mentally lazy to accept whatever some douche trusts upon you.
