For a British application to receive serious consideration, European leaders must be shown unequivocal evidence of the desire of the British Electorate to #RejoinEU.
They will not entertain being put through the trauma of the Brexit negotiations again, with the wastage of time energy & focus that involved.
They need to see us collectively see off #Farage , (who lead his dissidents to turn their backs at the opening ceremony of EU Parliament in a gesture not seen since the Nazis), for good.

Surprisingly the French are more keen - to "help protect us from Allemand caboche" (The Germans)
Sadly the Germans do not not require a "desire" from UK population but would mandate . . .
(1) UK Joins the €
(2) UK gives up rebate - every West German paid a huge amount in tax to repatriate the East and are not prepared to do the same for the UK. They are still sore about letting Greece in.
i.e. it is nearly impossible - current flavours of UK political parties aren't ready for this.
Maybe another 10 years of driving the UK economy into the dust and USA trade wars and a new politic will emerge
