This is an interesting and concerning story. It's still unclear how the call was intercepted. The most likely possibility would be spyware of some kind, but both Politico and the Commission have said they have found no evidence of a breach.

A much more worrying prospect would be direct interception. Questions on how this could happen and who is capable of doing it remain...
