Aside from that, making Russia pay for the reconstruction should happen anyway, but that's an after the (hot) war phase. In the meantime, Germany uses this one neat trick to try to wiggle out of financing the war the way ALL European wars have always been financed: debt. I will be laughing forever if DeWever is the reason we get eurobonds.

There are many anglo outlets that have been far more rabid in trying to tear down any attempt at 🇪🇺 strategic autonomy ( #PoliticoIsTrash for example), the FT has had a wide range of contributors on the topic. It's just that the nature of the algorithmic beast is such that I mostly read Rachman and co. criticising the very notion, so this is still a fun moment for my former twitter creep self.
