The kids are alright news:

The other day, 14’s school hosted a “Marines challenge” during gym classes and she clocked that bullshit immediately. I’m guessing it was local recruiters talking up the few, the proud, the marines. They had a form you had to fill out with your contact information to participate. It was voluntary and 14 declined, calling it recruitment propaganda. Her teacher tried to explain it and 14 was like nah, bruh. Pass.

@tayfonay I was so brainwashed (LDS) in high school, the day the military recruiters came they fully convinced me that it was a great idea. I came home and told my (currently very right wing- probably less so then?) mom and she was like, "I am absolutely NOT letting you join the military!" I also wanted to take Japanese as a foreign language & she forced me to take Spanish instead, which I appreciate now. I mean, I also appreciate her not letting me join the military! 🫡
