This is exactly what I am trying to convey to others. This and the fact that it:
* Consumes huge amounts of energy
* Consumes huge amounts of (drinking!) water

Also: at some point sites like #stackoverflow will go dark; they make money of ads because the #developers will visit it. If everybody is asking #AI they will no longer visit it. It also means no more information to FEED the AI's.

@ivolimmen In all honesty, the water part is just lazy or cheap engineering. Closed loop systems work just fine, I know, I built a quarter of a million square feet of raised floor 25 years ago in NV and NC using them....
@xenophile The four #bigtech datacenters close to my home actually use our drinking water. They even tried to convince the local government to install a small nuclear reactor. Luckely that has been stopped.
@ivolimmen I genuinely loathe it when the relentless quest for quarterly profit gains skips good engineering for a few more coins at everyone else's expense. Sounds like you all could use a good engineering review and then flip that into some sort of local legislation.
