Dear fellow artists - would you kindly name drop me your favorite painters, especially if they are more impressionistic in style? Or horror. Or just whomever you find interesting to learn from. (:

I browsed the library today but the art books I found were rather dull, and some had barely any pictures, or had just bare bones information, or only included male artists.

I'd like to some some studies but keep forgetting the names. (Memory issues)

@hiisikoloart Hi, Berthe Morisot and Mary Cassatt were impressionist artists. I also love Alice Neel, very expressive portraits. There is a great book called The Story of Art without Men by Katy Hessel which is well worth a look if you can get the library to order it in.
@thaliart
Thank you so much for the recommendations!
I will see if our library would have it, or could order it. (:

@hiisikoloart Eugène Carrière fits the bill, I think... I love how quietly unsettling his portraits are.
