Today hasn’t started yet. Despite all the screens saying no problems, I board the Hengelo train an hour earlier than planned and the driver announces a major disruption incident and that the train is delayed “indefinitely”

I think I might not get to Norddeich Mole today!

Big thank you to @Chep87 who I met yesterday for some dinner and a good long chat about all sorts of things!

I could’ve stayed on the Hengelo train, but it was a risk. Taking the ICE towards Münster and picking up the Teppich-RE there was a good call.

Was nice to walk around Münster Hbf and see what facilities are there. It’s actually a nice station.

Anyway: next stop for me is Norddeich Mole! New territory for me, der Elefant und Herr Pinguin. They are happy about the view from the table - there’s plenty of seats at the rear of the train in the Steuerwagen.

Made it to Emden Hbf with no issues. I would do the short trip to Außenhafen, but I’ll save that for a trip where I cover the bit of line Leer > Oldenburg.

We’ve got some dwell time here so I used the opportunity to stretch my legs and take a picture of the Steuerwagen

“Ferry” nice here at Norddeich Mole, despite the very windy weather! Back south we go with a exceptionally grubby RE1 nach Norden.
If in doubt, be efficient with your stop naming…

Last train of the day I think: ICE615 züruck nach Osnabrück. I’ve got a Niedersachsen day ticket which I could use a bit more, but I’m kinda tired and think that a relaxing evening at the hotel is needed. Overall it’s been a pretty relaxing day despite the initial diversion via Münster!

Going to take an earlier train tomorrow to Duisburg so I can have some dinner with my friend who lives there. Done check in for my flight to Heathrow and thence to Glasgow.

@Kilometer780 I'm surprised you use Google Maps for train navigation?

@Kilometer780

Only a few weeks until I'll be there, too.

@Michael Nice! Are you off to Norderney or Juist?

@Kilometer780

No. One week in Norddeich.

@Kilometer780 I envy you for travelling cross country.

@Kilometer780 @Chep87

In Bremen it was a fallen tree. Not heard anything else....
