I’m afraid of spiders. As I was leaving for work this morning, I saw a big, scary, mean-looking spider in the corner of one of my closet doors. I knew I couldn’t reach it and would risk running late if I tried. So I left the (growing in my mind) spider be, hoping I’d completely forget its existence.
And I did. I forgot about it until I was getting ready for bed. Now I have this (larger and larger in my mind) spider lurking in the very room I will be attempting to sleep in. Send arachnid help 😥
I keep imagine it creepily crawling over to consume my sleeping body 🫣
This is why I don’t watch horror movies! I have enough anxiety irl to scare the piss out of myself.

And this is another problem that only has one solution: I must get a cat.

Cat must hunt & eat spiders. Can I specify this on the pet adoption forms?

@hagaesthetic a cat that is well fed and past its playful age may not even bother. anyway that spider has better things to do than getting near you.
@hagaesthetic I feel for you, fellow arachnophobe.
In case it helps:
1) My husband gives names to all spiders of a large size, and it somehow helps me. Last few ones in the house were called "Boris". The one in the garage is called "Berta"
2) I said "last ones" because our cat, otherwise not playful, was interested enough in big spiders that we don't have them much anymore.

@marsiposa I’m going to call this one Gertrude. I’ll see if it helps. Thank you for the suggestion.

Also, may I borrow your cat?

@hagaesthetic excellent name choice!
Yes, we'll send the cat ASAP on special emergency mission.
