Bought this for #HamRadio and some other uses. Works well with IC-7300 connected directly to the XLR adapter cable I got a long time ago from Heil.
Also works well going through mixer.
Has XLR connector and 9V battery in the base.
The English language manual text is terrible. And some weirdness with the painting on the XLR end of the gooseneck itself. But it works.
I'm not sure why I didn't realize that gooseneck microphones like this make a lot of sense. The default thinking is that you need to go buy some crazy mic and then put it on some sort of an arm/mount to hold it. That typically means a dynamic mic, therefore the need for some sort of a preamp. Also means it's in the way. For rigs like the 7300, an electret condenser is a perfect match for the radio. And you just sit the base near the back of the workspace, not in your way.
With that said, this mic is much more susceptible to 'splosives than any of my dynamic mics and the built-in foam windscreen doesn't help at all. Keeping it further away solves this for my use case. And I like the light up on/off push button on the base that applies power to the mic when in the on position. And, like the mics you see on podiums and in conference rooms, there is a ring near the mic element that lights up red when it's powered on.
