I feel like the youths are broken in ways we (slightly) older folks can't even comprehend.

I try to really pump up my IT assistant when they figure out something new or difficult.

"You made significant firewall changes during business hours and nothing broke. Hell yeah!"

And they they just don't see the significance of any of it. That they struggled through something and accomplished something! It's just another task, like cleaning out the fridge. Just part of the grind, bro.

They don't feel the rush of antici....pation when they click Commit and that flutter of excitement when portal finishes rebooting and they see if it worked or if we're taking a looooong drive to the satellite office.

Work is work but you need to find some enjoyment in what you do.

@CrabbyIT On the other hand, it's also much harder to recognize the enormity of what we've just accomplished earlier on in our career. You and I both know how rare it is to make a firewall change and not break things. For PFY without a careers' worth of context, they pushed a button and...nothing appeared to happen.
