Imagine a book series about a group of young space explorers becomes popular in children's literature. You see the books all over the place. Whole fandoms evolve around the series. TV shows are based upon the books and movies too.

It's EVERYWHERE.

Then people find out the that actual person writing under the series' non de plume was Kristi Noem all along.

Would you still read it? Still watch the movies and TV shows?

Would you understand why people thought you were an asshole for doing that?

@timberwraith I've never understood, when a greatly adored genre becomes socially hated when they found out something they didnt like about one of the authors.

Michael Jackson music never changed when he was accused of something bad.

I wish I was never intimidated to dislike Harry Potter. DRAGONS! I love dragons. Phoenixes too, love those, Castles also, I haz many Lego.

@GreenRoc It's about not sending monetary support to someone who is doing active harm in spreading bigotry against a marginalized, oppressed populace.

JKR is using her wealth to fund effective political actions against trans/non-binary rights in the UK.

Michael Jackson isn't in the same league with JKR or a prospective Kristi Noem authorship, although he certainly had other problems with other modes of abuse.

@timberwraith There are many artists involved in these creations. Just because one artist out of thousands has a crappy personal life, doesnt make the artwork any less enjoyable to me.

If I didnt spend money on content created by evil, I would starve, have no home, nor clothes. But evildoers are not the only recipients.

Lego and David gets money.

Years of avodiing harry potter, it felt terrible everytime I saw somethign neat at the store. My roomates still enjoy, why suffer the social blight.

@GreenRoc I would suggest that you read through the experiences of trans people living in the UK right now with the rapid decay of their rights. It's pretty horrible. Not unlike here but a little further along than in the u.s. And they have made it clear who has funded the legal push that made the UK supreme court case possible which ripped many of their rights away. It was JKR.

I don't know what else to say to you? If that doesn't hit home? That's messed up.

But I've stated as much already.

@timberwraith I am vehemently against JKR.
@GreenRoc @timberwraith
There are other sources of dragons, phoenixes, and castles. Heck, roleplay and make your own.
