I started with Blender when covid lockdown was the thing... if you haven't done the donut series that's a pretty good starting point (Andrew Price)
the ridges were tricky - early coins didn't have 'em... I don't recall exactly how I did it but it was almost certainly an array modifier. If I did it today I'd try and work out how to use geometry nodes - but that's a whole other ball of wax.
I'm always happy to find more people on the fedi using my favorite software
