dreamt of a small ruler for edc, here is the hazelton decimeter! lasercut from 200um stainless steel, with 100um divisions. designed in #FreeCAD
the ruler markings might need to be deeper, then perhaps stained for greater contrast? also forgot to toot the best part: the new text tool in sketcher workbench! #FreeCAD
@hazelton ah, I've been looking for something more accurate for woodworking
@hazelton For many years I carried a 6" metal scale in my pocket (marked down to 1/64ths, so not as fine as .1mm!; inches are the customary measurement here). I stopped because it kept cutting holes in my pockets, but it was indeed convenient to have. It is now sitting beside me on my desk, and I have various inch and metric scales at my other desks. I always pick them up when I find them at flea markets/estate sales/etc.!
@hazelton That’s cool, but I suspect what you’ve created is a serrated edged knife ;-)
(So it’s now a Multi-tool?)
@hazelton
Very nice! I could really use something like that, but I don't have ready access to a fiber or YAG laser.
@hazelton Nice! Do you also carry a tiny microscope?
@hazelton this is totally cool and very much something we'd like to feature on our blog. Could @concretedog ping you a few questions?
@freecad @concretedog thanks a lot! if you are asking if the sketch is fully constrained... 'tisn't ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@hazelton A small caliper with 0.1mm precision and no sharp edges for better portability would be nice. Don't know if that exists.
@hazelton thanks, this brings me joy.
