And there we are. Trump is already blackmailing Europe with 'his' LNG. We urgently need to reduce our natural gas consumption by speeding up the energy transition: focus on energy efficiency, electrification, and scaling up EU production of biomethane, developing way too slow to meet its 2030 target.

Trump Threatens to Cut Off EU's American LNG Supplies - Washington Today

US President Donald Trump is threatening to cut off American liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies to the European Union if Brussels refuses to ratify a trade agreement favorable to Washington. The US Ambassador to the EU, Andrew Puzder, stated that the implementation of the energy part of the agreement would be in question if the EU demanded changes to any points of the document.

This is cognitive dissonance on display.

Republicans just agreed to give $1B to TotalEnergies to not build wind farms off our East Coast and instead build LNG export infrastructure on our Gulf Coast but then say we’re not going to sell LNG.

@JoeStewart @Sustainable2050 The blackmailer always thinks that they will get away with their crime.

I hate to say it, but the EU should start buying natural gas from Iran to the degree possible, and threaten to replace US LNG with Russian pipeline gas if Trump doesn't back down, to get Trump off their back. Russia would sell it for less anyway.

Imagine EU leaders saying "Russian pipeline gas is MUCH cheaper than US blackmail. If Trump ISN'T a Russian agent, he'll stand up for US businesses."

Not cognitive dissonance. Propagandive dissonance.

> Trump is already blackmailing Europe with 'his' LNG.

It is a really good news. Big one, we all should praise the orange maniac for this.

In 2023 EU countries gave €354 billion in subsidies to fossil fuel corpos.

Costs of perpetual batteries built with Europe minerals is estimated (by me) at €3bn per 1TWh. The whole-year heat storage tank for a standalone single family house is in the €15k range. With impulse to take away subsidies from the BigOil/Gas we could pivot to energy sovergeinty in some 10 to 20years., assuming we cut BigOil subsidies a 10% per year.
