So, are we putting together openstreetmap group excursions this summer or what.

Apple confirms that its Maps app will begin showing ads to users "this summer"

Apple Maps ads will look and work a bit like current App Store ads do.

@mhoye What would those look like?

@yoasif I was more excited for the group excursions!! Meh on tech. We tech enough.

@mhoye

@mayintoronto @mhoye Well... get a meetup together and work with some legacy tech (pencil and paper): https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Field_Papers

I would love to join you at some point! ❤️

@mayintoronto @yoasif @mhoye in my city at least, mapping parties are reasonably common! it's a nice opportunity to get out and socialize a little and walk around a new-to-you neighborhood while improving the map.
@yoasif Oh, these are neat, thank you!
MapComplete doesn’t highlight missing info the way StreetComplete does, does it? I’m on iOS so I can’t use the latter.

@Cykelero I honestly haven't used MapComplete much (since I am on Android).

You can probably beg or borrow an Android device that will easily run StreetComplete - you can download areas before you head out and submit your changes once you are back.

@mhoye I haven't done a mapping party in decades!

(checks account; yup, decades is right. Eek, I'm old.)
