Fire truck in LaGuardia runway collision had no transponder, limiting tower’s ability to track it, NTSB says

A fire-rescue truck involved in Sunday’s deadly collision at New York’s LaGuardia Airport was not equipped with a transponder — technology that helps air traffic controllers identify and track vehicles on the airfield — the National Transportation Safety Board said Tuesday.
