Wow. I was freeloading on my friend's YouTube family account for years, and they finally just evicted me (YouTube, not the friend). I had no idea the ads had gotten this bad! This is insane. It's, like, unusable! But the whole Internet is still on YouTube and only YouTube. Maybe it's finally time to roll my own household router with PiHole or... what's the other one? @changemewtf I don't think DNS AdBlock works with YouTube at least on mobile. The YouTube revanced now YouTube morphe deals with that

On desktop unlock origin or brave is good and then add sponsorblock as a bonus. Not to mention the improve YouTube extension which will allow you to que things properly which is the biggest thing missing on the mobile side without premium.

@changemewtf Pihole won't help with YouTube ads, they serve them from the same domain as the videos. Ublock Origin in a Firefox-based browser is the most effective option there.

Pihole's great for other sites though.

@woe2you Maybe the play is to uninstall the YouTube app from my Android device and just use it through Firefox so uBlock can do its dirty business. It's a shame, though, because YouTube Music was a really fine app. Too bad giving Alphabet money makes me break out in hives 😫

@changemewtf If you're watching YT on an AndroidTV box, try TizenTube Cobalt. Looks just like the original YT app, but has additional options to skip ads, sponsorings, etc.
