@404mediaco I'm curious about the legality of simply placing them on their sides. I'm really not sure what if any laws that might violate.

The laws will be different everywhere

@drdrowland @404mediaco sure, but I'm not sure how you'd get to anything beyond a ticketable offense. I suspect there'd be a strong preference to avoid any kind of charges for which someone could request a jury trial, and IIRC don't most civil infractions need to be written when they're witnessed by the officer issuing the citation?

@fencepost @404mediaco

We'd need evidence they design it to fail expensively when placed on it's side so during discovery we can show they were hostile to the public. The company, not the machine. We can't hold the machine accountable.

If we damage property we should be able to show that a minimum punishment for an accused crime is does not fit such small-dollar damage.

I'm not a lawyer I just watch them on YouTube

@drdrowland @404mediaco nah, designing to fail expensively would be very poor judgement. They're going to end up on their sides or otherwise abused (see also canal scooters), any company running them is going to want them trivial to get back in operation.

The scale of the operation times the minor damage amount can be large enough for more than just tickets. No one will lead this project but anon
