Did we learn nothing from the Iraq war?

The loss of thousands of innocent lives, the human and environmental catastrophe and the destabilisation of entire regions.

Another world is possible: one powered by peace, justice and renewable energy, not oil, gas and fossil fuel-driven conflict. Ending the age of fossil fuels means weakening the systems that enrich autocrats and warmongers, and building a future that puts people, not profit, first.

It’s #TimeToResist

@greenpeace that looks super great for the environment and those people really look like they are getting super liberated
@greenpeace Fully agreed, thank you for promoting one the most important low-carbon and dispatchable electricity sources - #nuclear power which works perfectly along with renewables!

@kravietz @greenpeace

No. Too expensive, dangerous and not needed at all.

@cdfinder @greenpeace

Comparing the CO2 emission intensity of electricity between Germany and France it seems like it’s desperately needed.

@kravietz @greenpeace

Not at all. We will be CO2 neutral without it easily.

@cdfinder @greenpeace

But it’s not and France practically is.

@kravietz @greenpeace

But it is, and France is facing gigantic problems with its old and failing nuclear ruins. Replacements for these dangours things might be available in 30 years, but for crazy prices only.

So, no, nuclear is not an option at all.

@cdfinder

I wish Germany had more of these “ruins” rather than tons of new & shiny PV panels and 10x higher CO2 emissions as today. The whole exercise is about decarbonisation, remember? 😄

@greenpeace

@kravietz @greenpeace

Yes, exactly, and what better way than using shiny solar panels and powerful wind turbines than highly dangerous nuclear devices that create deadly trash that needs to be stored for 500.000 years?

It is great that we turned that stuff off, very good, actually.

@cdfinder

So if decarbonisation is the objective, then why is Germany’s annual CO2 intensity still 10x higher than France’s in spite of having 10x more renewables? 🤔 This means you don’t really care about decarbonisation, but about some unicorn fantasies that don’t really matter for the climate.

@greenpeace

@kravietz @greenpeace

Bullshit. If we *would* build new nuclear plants, it would take 30 years, 3 or 4 trillion Euros, and no way there were completed in time to actually help with decarbonisation.

France will lose 50% of their nucler power in the next five years due to their ageing damaged reactors, and then they have more than massive problems.

Funny enough, German CO2 emisisons have been reduced already, especially after turning off the nuclear power plants. Oh my.

Our problem is buildings and traffic, and nuclear plants do not help with that, of course.

@greenpeace Ah, you're posting the AI-generated video again. Applause.
@greenpeace the US and Israel and Russia have greed running through their veins… that and bloodthirst. The US has been at war (armed conflict) for 232 years in its 250 years of existence. Israel has been killing since it was founded on Palestinian soil. The creation of Israel is the biggest mistake the West made after the Second World War.
