I think I said before that I've signed up to do the PatternPoole mystery quilt. Prelim cutting instructions were sent out - and I have finished cutting. Batting was a leftover bundle I found in the cupboard. Backing is lots of FQs and leftovers as it's QAYG. And fabric is batik rather than grunge. #quilting

@juliew2010 ooh pretty colours together! And a mystery quilt, what fun! I love QAYG, it's so satisfying to finish things up and be done.

Miss Rosie the Red Cattle Dog tried to jump through the very inadequate sewing machine cover supplied with my new Singer (the cover was made of cheap grey plastic fabric, her claw caught it as she tried to jump onto the bed, the machine temporarily parked at the foot of the bed while I tidy ...)

So my next sewing job is a boring but necessary sewing machine cover. I'm sure I can find some fabric around here somewhere (she said, looking at the far too many tubs of usable scraps!)

@caity I only do QAYG. There's no way I could haul a quilt through my machine and my brain says a quilt isn't a quilt until it's finished. So I can't just make quilt tops.

I'm really chuffed that I managed to get all the backing from quilt leftovers - but somehow there's still heaps left😂

Good luck with your machine cover. I can just see a lovely patchwork cover over your machine.

@juliew2010 Love the fabrics! I’ve never done a mystery quilt. Maybe 2026 is the year. Good luck!
@Grumpygrannyquilts This is my first. It's a combo of foundation piecing, piecing and appliqué, so it should be fun. And I like the work and explanations of the women who are running it, so fingers crossed.
