Some of my friends have started taking their social security earlier than 67.

When I told them the decision is probably smart because there's no guarantee it's still going to be there in two years, they all said the same thing - Trump and the Republicans won't touch social security, it would be too unpopular with his base.

He just started a war without bothering to get permission from congress. I don't think he cares how unpopular SS cuts would be. It's not like anyone's going to stop him.

@mmiasma And the GOP has been wanting to cut Social Security anyway. All that money the GOP could spend elsewhere. And it would cut aid to the less fortunate and elderly.

Note that the benefit one receives will decrease the further away they are from their designated retirement age.
