There are regions with concentrations - primarily by city - Vancouver, Toronto, and MontrΓ©al. But you want to focus on school-before-job, imo.
I hope you are getting responses from people working in this field; they will show how varied and unique each person's path ends up being.
@Amgine @darkwolf one thing worth mentioning is the industry is in absolute tatters right now. If you go to a school and they say they can 100% get you a job in the industry, they are lying and you should go somewhere else. I did the 3d program at CapU while my wife did the 2d program. Right now I'm employed probably because I went down the software development track way back in 2013, whole she's been looking for work for the past year. And she's not alone at all with looking for work.

forestine@darkwolf i did my bfa at alberta university of the arts (formerly alberta college of art and design) in Calgary and they have an animation program. great school with a lot of cool alumni coming out of there

C.Sheridan College (campuses in southern Ontario) at least used to have programs in animation and other arts that were well-regarded. I haven't looked lately, so I could be out of date, but you could look there:
