@rcombs did you ever do anything with the glasgow replay thing
@whitequark yeah, it works well locally, and I've streamed with it a couple times; just hasn't been my primary device since it needs the TAS file to be streamed in over USB, and I trust the embedded hardware a lot more than I trust the host machine

@whitequark my primary setup reads off a microSD card, so if the host machine dies, it can just keep running hostless until it reboots

that said, I wanna have as much off-the-shelf hardware supported for TAS replay as possible; other people regularly use my replay software

@rcombs once i actually verify the HyperRAM addon you should be able to use that (it will happen soon™ because revD will have onboard RAM)
@rcombs or actually nothing is really stopping you from using an SD card with the glasgow, the command set is a little obtuse but "read this block device sequentially" is implementable in one evening
@whitequark @rcombs I have read sd cards before by bigbanging the pins from a microcontroller. Conclusion: simply load a riscv chip onto the glasgow and then read the SD card from software *pushes glasses up on nose* *eats glasses*
@whitequark @rcombs (PS: When I get out of medical recovery I'm still interested in TASbotting via my Glasgow— I lost my Teensy so this is more convenient— do I understand this thread to mean there is existing TASbot code for streaming TAS commands from a PC using USB? I was thinking about attempting to implement this but if I don't have to do work then awesome…)

@mcc @whitequark yeah I've got a branch laying around that does it

sufficiently small TASes can also be pre-programmed into the fpga directly, though "sufficiently small" here means "far too small to actually, like, get into gameplay"
