Uh, what? So all of them? *FCC BANS IMPORTS OF ALL FOREIGN-MADE CONSUMER-GRADE ROUTERS

@peark.es PCMag article confirming foreign made routers cannot be sold in USA. Glad I upgraded my ASUS router last year.

Snip:
Late on Monday afternoon, the FCC announced the order, based on a White House determination that foreign-made routers introduce “supply chain vulnerabilities” that hackers and cyberspies can exploit. Specifically, the commission updated its “covered list,” which acts as a blacklist of telecom equipment deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to US national security. It now includes “all consumer-grade routers produced in foreign countries.”

@mappingsupport @peark.es yikes. It's like the goal is to drive everyone off the Internet.

I wonder if Ubiquiti will be impacted since they're not very consumer focused although many power users have them at home (myself included).

And I'm guessing setting up PFSense on an old computer won't be impacted so for nerds nothing changes. It's the other 99% who will have a bad time.

Also lol just because something foreign is approved doesn't mean it can't have a supply chain attack on later production runs.

@mappingsupport @peark.es I upgraded mine last year, too. So glad. The current one should last another 10 years and maybe by that time America will be back on the right track. I don't know what the fuck track we're on now.

@mappingsupport

I'd really like to know how routers for consumers have jack shit to do with supply chains or any aspect of national security.

Hello? ACLU?
