@ascentale @bikenite Remember eons ago we had a #BikeNite question about pedal powered machines? Well I was watching a documentary film about folk living off grid yesterday and there was a guy who made himself feel better about 'wasting' his wind and sun generated leccy in watching the hockey on TV by grinding flour by pedalling while he did so. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4235130/

@pete @ascentale @bikenite I have a Country Living grain mill just like the one pictured. Sadly, I don't have the means of hooking it up to a bicycle, because that would definitely be easier than cranking it by hand.

BTW, if you want a grain mill, that's a great one, but it's expensive. Mine was a gift from a friend.

@pete @gcvsa @ascentale @bikenite that's an interesting side question: what is the average person willing to do, i.e. 1 minute for a cup of floor, 4-4.5 cups (therefore minutes) for enough flour for a 2 lb loaf of bread. 10 is probably too long for food prep. 5 mins is starting to get to be too long. So 3-4 as a target?

@trouble @pete @ascentale @bikenite I have a handcrank coffee mill, and every morning, I grind 30 grams of beans to make two cups of coffee. It takes about 5 minutes to handcrank the grinder. I want to buy a Baratza Encore electric grinder.
