It is very funny that ICE didn’t change anything about their MO for the airport deployments.

The dude is wearing plate armor with a bunch of shit tactically stuck to it, to stand behind a Black woman sitting in a chair, doing the actual work, without getting paid.

@gknauss
This brings up a good point...does DHS expect unpaid TSA to train paid ICE?
@ytscorp @gknauss My understanding is that ICE are supposed to do unskilled jobs like guarding exits, to free up TSA agents to do skilled work like reading X-rays.
I've also heard that there aren't actually that many jobs that don't require TSA training, so ICE won't be able to do much.
@ytscorp @gknauss I just hope they manage not to assault or kill anyone.

@arensb @ytscorp @gknauss

When the low bar for success is “don’t murder anyone”

What if... And bear with me... What if, they just moved some money from ICE to TSA? Same department. Bound to be some type of precedent.

How the hell is ICE funded _anyway_ when the budget with the funding is being held up?

@paninid @arensb @ytscorp @gknauss

@401matthall @paninid @ytscorp @gknauss I've been wondering the same thing. The hypothesis that makes the most sense to me is that they want to say "See? It's the evil Democrats causing long lines in airports!"
@arensb @401matthall @paninid @ytscorp @gknauss ICE has billions from the Bigly Bill passed last year. Some of that money could be moved temporarily to TSA. But as said above, T and Republicans think the long lines and people's anger will pressure Dems into giving up.
@MaryClark @401matthall @paninid @ytscorp @gknauss Plus, doesn't ICE have a bigger budget than Canada's entire military? They could probably pay for all of TSA out of their Friday pizza lunch budget.
