like, how many examples of a fantasy world based on Pacific Islander cultures are there? Not many, probably Moana's the only one. So I get that.

I kind of get it with snow white or maybe Cinderella. But like even The Little Mermaid was too new to get a live action remake.

After Snow White bombed, I didn't think Disney would go through with another live-action remake movie.

Okay. I feel old.
1) 10 years is SO not enough time. Not even close. 25 years is still too soon imho.
2) it is a crime that 2016 was 10 years ago already. That seems impossible. Nuh-uh. I dont accept this. Impossible.
3) it makes sense that would try again cuz the live action Cinderella, Lion King, and Little Mermaid all did pretty well. They could have seen the Snow White one as a fluke to an otherwise fairly successful ploy to reach both nostalgic adults and reintroduce old stories to a new generation.
@bravegrumpy 10 years is a shockingly short amount of time to wait between an original and remake, yes.
I also completely forgot that Lilo & Stitch was one of the biggest box office successes last year and that was a remake of a movie from 2002. Disney is probably hoping for another hit like that.
