The tape is coming off (see second image), NP. Nothing is square, and every square has a different size, but this is not noticeable IRL, from a step back.

Evidently, there are better ways of taping grids (see second image).

However, when looking at this painting in real life, one does not naturally approach one's face into within six inches of the surface, inspecting the squares, judging them — I'm sorry, I just have to laugh there.

An artist sees paintings from steps back, to fill their entire field of vision, as it would for any other viewer.

So I think the dimensioning of the individual squares is not that relevant, plus or minus the obvious.

We just watched the Craft in America episode featuring cutlery artisans and they said that over the decades they'd perfected their craft to the point that each piece was flawless and had no work marks. After a while people started accusing them of machine making their wares and stopped buying from them. So now they do the same process but cut the polishing short or they go back and add more work marks. 🙃
@Xover0

I am hoping the area is one of the least uniform collection of squares on the painting because it is in a lower corner, which was a very awkward place to work, despite doing everything I could to make the geometry "perfect."

I am working on other methods.

An acquaintance on Telegram, from Lviv, incidentally, wrote, "People don't notice the unimportant things." 😹

I thought that was a very wise and kind thing to say.
