The tape is coming off (see second image), NP. Nothing is square, and every square has a different size, but this is not noticeable IRL, from a step back.
Evidently, there are better ways of taping grids (see second image).
However, when looking at this painting in real life, one does not naturally approach one's face into within six inches of the surface, inspecting the squares, judging them — I'm sorry, I just have to laugh there.
An artist sees paintings from steps back, to fill their entire field of vision, as it would for any other viewer.
So I think the dimensioning of the individual squares is not that relevant, plus or minus the obvious.
