I looked at LinkedIn (I know what a bummer) and saw people thought leading about how now we’re designing for humans and AI.

I don’t have enough characters available on this platform to explain how quickly this point falls apart.

But I’ll just say that if you stick to just humans the AI will follow

I already see “AI-first design” being thrown around.

AI usage will cost increasing amounts for end users.

Many consumers and smaller orgs will not prioritize AI spending over more critical needs.

That is one of infinite reasons why your base product and platform should be human first.

Expand your definition of accessibility here: think beyond compliance.

Accessibility is also based on economical access.

If your platform or product is only good with AI, and AI costs them money, is it meaningfully accessible or usable? No

Human first products must be the priority.

Ultimately, the same things that make products work well for users will be what makes them work for AI.

Stay focused on people.

Models are and will likely remain structured to parse out products based on how they’re presented to humans.
