Enjoying Pye Corner Audio a lot today, haven't played him in a while. Truly a unique sound. Kind of raw hauntological disco. Check him out if you don't know him.

Nearly played a gig with him a couple of years ago, until I pulled out (nothing to do with him).

Ah yes, playing live. Too much work for too little reward. It was fun, sometimes.

Playing live: Weeks/months of converting existing tracks into live versions, writing new bass parts and sequences, making samples and patches, sourcing and cutting video, assembling and syncing the whole set, then weeks of rehearsals. Travel and accomodation costs.

'I can only pay you £150 for the gig, you've got five minutes to set up/take down, and I've bumped you to the early evening slot when barely anyone is there.'

@Concretism I think it says a lot about the contrast of the lone electronic artist, working mostly on a laptop or in a small studio, compared to a guitar/bass/drums band who do most of their writing in a live set up anyway, albeit in a practice room. It's a lot easier for the latter to take that performance into a live context.

When I were a lad and playing in bands we viewed local live shows as free rehearsal sessions. If we got paid it was a bonus 🤷‍♂️😁

@WiteWulf Oh yeah. I used to play in bands and it was much easier. I'd literally just take a keyboard synth and play it.
